Brooke FerragamoYear Graduated:

Favorite DV Memory?
As a Da Vinci alumni, I had so many amazing opportunities for creativity and community building that my DHS friends will never be able to understand. For instance, I remember staying up until 1 AM spray-painting tee-shirts in my parents’ garage the night before a Hail to the Chief rally. I still find stickers with my HTTC party’s logo. For the MBTV project, spending an entire weekend filming a reality show with a Machiavellian philosophical structure, and coming up with outrageous reality show characters – I spent that whole weekend laughing with a group of people that I wouldn’t have gotten to know closely otherwise. I also remember so many moments of spontaneity that are so hard to explain: playing guitar on the old quad with friends during a free period; witnessing DV history-in-the-making as HTTC rallies and elaborate projects swept the school; having a great conversation with the office staff while hanging out with them during a free period.

What have you been doing since you graduated?

After Da Vinci, I went to UC Davis and studied Psychology and Women’s Studies. I am currently a 4th year PhD student in Clinical Psychology in San Francisco. I have had practicum placements in community mental health settings, and my current placement is at an organization that serves LGBTQ+ and HIV-affected individuals. My dissertation research is on the experience of psychotherapy for those who identify as gender non-conforming or nonbinary; Conducting research is complicated and stressful, but so interesting. Despite the stress of graduate school, I am really enjoying life.
